Vacancy for a Permanent Part Time Educator to work 3 days (21 hours) per week work in our Mobile Preschool at Blaxland Ridge, Kurrajong and Bilpin commencing Term 1, 2021.

Our Mobile Pre-School provides an inclusive educational program provided by qualified, experienced staff. The Program is based on the Early Years Learning Framework
The children are guided and supported in a warm caring and stimulating environment
This position is part of the Children’s Services Mobile Pre-School team.
We require a friendly dedicated Diploma Qualified Educator to become part of our happy team to care and implement programs for our preschool age children.

Desirable Criteria:-
Ability to form relationships with staff, families and children
Ability to communicate effectively with parents and children.
Experience of working within and complying with Early Years Learning Framework
Driving licence

POSITION – Job Title: Mobile Pre-School Assistant
 
REPORTS TO: Pre-School Director, then HCOS Manager.
 
HOURS: (Permanent Part time) on Monday, Tuesday and Friday; 7 hours per day during school term only.
 
CLASSIFICATION: CSA Level 3.4 PPT (DIPLOMA)
 
POSITION CONTEXT:
Hawkesbury Community Outreach Services Inc. (HCOS) is a not for profit organisation. HCOS operates in outlying regions of the Hawkesbury Local Government Area. From our base in Kurrajong, we service communities along Bells Line of Road as far as Mt Tomah; we currently have centre-based services at Bilpin, Blaxlands Ridge, Kurrajong and other LGA locations may vary and change in response to community need.
Our projects have been developed in response to the needs of communities in isolated and/or disadvantaged districts. We are partly funded by the NSW Department of Human Services and other funding is generated through fees and donations.

This position is part of the Children’s Services Mobile Pre-School team.
 
PURPOSE AND FUNCTION:
 
Main objectives of our program: - Provide an educational program based on the Early Years Learning Framework for Australia; to provide access to preschool to children that are living in geographically isolated, socially isolated or disadvantaged families within the Hawkesbury; to provide School Readiness to children; to provide School Readiness to these children in a safe, warm caring and stimulating environment.
 
This position requires a background/training in Child Care/ Early Years Education working with children in the age group 3 – to school age and requires abilities in: motivating children to learn and imaginatively using resources in order to facilitate learning; maintain relationships with parents/guardians to further support the children as well as operate within multi-agency networks to ensure the correct support is available; focus on optimum child development and preparation for a successful transition to primary school education.
 
The Job Title will undertake the following duties:

General Responsibilities

  • At all times working within and complying with the National Quality Standards for Early Childhood Education and Care and School Age Care;
  • At all times working within and complying with the Early Years Learning Framework;
  • At all times working within and complying with the Policies and Procedures of the Hawkesbury Community Outreach Services Inc. Policies and procedures;
  • To assist the Director of Mobile Pre-Schools in developing and implementing work schemes and lesson plans in line with the requirements of the early years foundation stage (EYFS);
  • To work under the supervision and direction of the Preschool director, the HCOS Manager and the Management Committee;
  • Deliver the Mobile Preschool service program to meet the needs of the parents and children in accordance with the childcare regulations and guidelines;
  • Assist the director and other staff in developing and providing appropriate group and individual activities to assist in the development of preschool aged children (3 years – to school age;
  • Encourage children's mathematical and creative development through stories, songs, games, drawing and imaginative play;
  •  Develop children's curiosity and knowledge;
  • To assist in record keeping, roll attendance, developing weekly programs, observations and program evaluation (day books);
  • To aid in the development of children’s Portfolios and the completion of daily, weekly and monthly checklists;
  • To work with other staff to maintain a healthy environment for the children in the services care, ensuring provision of a warm and caring environment for the children’s social and emotional development.
  • To aid in the day to day running of the preschool such as set up, pack away and general cleaning tasks;
  • To comply with the Federal Privacy Act 1988, the Privacy and Personal Information Protection Act 1998, The health Records and Information Privacy Act 2002, the Children and Young Persons (Care and Protection) Act 1998, Access and Equity principles and the Work Health and Safety Act 2011;
  • To use computer programs for e.g., Microsoft Word, Internet and Email;
  • To hold a Working with Children’s clearance;
  • Driving the Preschool van when required;
  • Ensure the health and safety of children and staff is maintained during all activities, both inside and outside the Preschool;
  • Keep up to date with changes in the curriculum and developments in best practice;
  • Keep up to date a First Aid Certificate, CPR and Anaphylaxis and Asthma training;
  • Performance of other duties as required.

Organisational Management and Team Work
 
Participate in staff meetings and staff development workshops
  • Produce reports and issues papers for the Management Committee, as directed by the Manager.
 
PHYSICAL DEMANDS & WORK ENVIRONMENT
  • Physical ability to lift and load; pack and unpack Pre-school games, toys and equipment to and from the storage unit, in and out of the van and in and out of the Pre-School location in keeping with the WH&S legislation and Equal Opportunity Law.

CONDITIONS OF EMPLOYMENT:
 
Terms and conditions of employment will be based on the Children’s Services Modern Award 2010 which covers persons with certificate III or diploma qualifications working in preschool.

Traineeship
Cert 111 in Childcare
A New Entrant Traineeship is available to any student who has begun or will begin their traineeship within 3 months of beginning full time employment or 12 months of part-time employment with their service or within 3 months of completing a pre-requisite qualification. Like any traineeship, you’ll gain on the job experience whilst completing a qualification and will receive support and feedback from both your employer and trainer throughout the duration of your studies.
New Entrant Traineeships are available as long as the student is eligible for this kind of study.
To be eligible for a New Entrant Traineeship a student must:
  • Be an Australian Citizen or Permanent Resident
  • Have worked for less then 3 months full time or 12 months part time with their current employer or have completed the pre-requisite qualification less then 3 months prior.
Certificate III in Early Childhood Education & Care - CHC30113Qualification Description

This qualification reflects the role of workers in a range of early childhood education settings who work within the requirements of the Education and Care Services National Regulations and the National Quality Standard. They support the implementation of an approved learning framework, and support children’s wellbeing, learning and development. Depending on the setting, educators may work under direct supervision or autonomously.
